WE LOVE BRANCH PILES THAT LOOK LIKE THIS PIC!

Stack it right, save some cash, and help us chip faster than your neighbour can say, “I should’ve called Chip It Guy.”

THE SECRET TO HAPPY CHIPPERS (AND LOWER BILLS)

It’s all in the prep. Stage your branches right, save time, money, and a few curse words.

Here’s the deal — we’ll drag branches from most places you can stack a pile, but the harder it is to reach, the longer it takes (and the higher the bill climbs). If your branches are scattered across the backyard, through a narrow gate, down the driveway, and up a few steps for good measure — we can do it. But it’s not exactly “efficient.”

The dream job? Piles staged near the road or driveway as you’re pruning — with cut ends all facing out towards where we pull up with the chipper. That’s the sweet spot. We can pull up, chip like heroes, and be gone before your coffee gets cold. Good prep means less dragging, less time on-site, and a much happier wallet.

The Chip Checklist

  • Keep it clean — just branches, please.

No dirt, rocks, metal, root balls, garbage, or other yard surprises. Our chipper likes wood, not weaponry.

  • Stack with the cut ends facing one direction.

We feed from the cut end first — it’s faster, safer, and keeps things flowing smoothly.

  • Make it easy to reach.

Place your pile near the road or driveway where we can park our chipper. We don’t drive onto lawns or through gardens (trust us, you wouldn’t want tire tracks where your tulips were).

  • Keep branches long if possible.

Long branches feed through better. Skip the pruning unless it’s absolutely necessary — we’ll handle the big stuff.

  • Fresh is best.

Newly cut branches chip like butter. Old, dried-out ones? Not so much. The older they get, the more they shatter and slow things down. If they're really old and brittle, we may not be able to chip them.

The Chipper Rules

Branches only, People

(We wish we didn't have to say this)

What we Can Chip

  • Tree branches

Up to 6" in diameter, keep branches long

  • Bush branches

Real branches, not a tangle of vines

  • Shrub branches

If it crackles when it breaks, it chips great

What We Can't Chip

  • Root balls

We like our blades functional, thanks

  • Construction lumber

    We don't offer renovation cleanup

  • Grass, leaves, or garden clippings

    We mulch, not mush

  • Furniture

    Yep, we've been asked

  • Dirt, rocks, cement, or garbage mixed in brush piles

    Our chipper isn't a landfill

  • Anything with nails, screws, or metal bits

That's how equipment has a bad day

  • Anything else not covered above

Got a Bigger Property?

We've Got An ATV for That

If you’ve got piles spread around your property, we can bring our ATV to tow the chipper to your piles — as long as the ground is dry and fairly level.
You’ll just need to keep the wood chips (we can’t haul them off-site for those setups).

Got Brush Chipping Questions?

Quick answers to what we chip, how we chip, and how to keep your cost down.

How should I pile my branches for the chipper?

Stack them neatly with the cut ends facing the same direction, toward where we’ll park the chipper.
This keeps everything feeding smoothly and saves time. A messy pile means we’re playing pickup sticks instead of chipping, and that adds labour costs.

Near the road or driveway is ideal.
Our chipper is a 4 foot wide, 2,000-lb trailer that stays either driveway or curbside — it doesn’t fit through garden gates or hop stairs. If we have to drag branches from the backyard, down a hill, or through a maze of flowerbeds, it takes longer (and costs more).

Yes, but it’s more labour-intensive.
We’ll happily do it, but the extra time to haul everything out will affect pricing. Staging piles as you prune — even halfway to the driveway — helps a lot.

No — longer branches are better.
Our commercial chipper is hydraulically fed and works faster with full-length limbs. Keep them long and clean; skip the snipping.

Small clippings mixed in are fine — as long as it’s mostly branches.
We can chip the little stuff if it’s part of a larger pile, but we don’t do piles made up of just twigs, leaves, or garden debris. No dirt, root balls, or rocks either — our chipper likes wood, not surprises.

We can still do the job, but it’ll take longer and cost more.
If we spend the first 20 minutes untangling a brush spaghetti, you’ll see that reflected in the total time billed.

Because less dragging = less time on-site.
When we can pull up, chip, and go, you’re paying for efficient work — not a workout.

Yes, that’s the best move.
As you cut, stack the branches right away with the ends facing one direction. By the time we arrive, the hard part’s done — and your job’s halfway to finished.

Chip it Guy is such an amazing company if you are looking for any brush and tree stumps to be removed from your property. The price is cheaper than any bin removal service out there and the customer service truly is fantastic. The owner of the company is super professional, quick, and very clean when removing the brush and stumps. We had a great experience and definitely would hire him again for any brush and stump removal. He really made the process so easy and effortless.
